Information & communications technology

All children have access to chrome books and are taught the skills required to access and process information.

From Year 3, the children are introduced to digital photography and image manipulation, safe use of the internet and touch typing skills.

The ICT skills that children develop at St Peter’s allow Years 7 and 8 pupils to complete a ‘Mars Coding Challenge.’ These youngsters build algorithms to enable their Mars Rover to move across Mars and collect data at given coordinates. The next requirement was to take photographs to send back to mission control. The children compete against each other to build the best program.

According to our March 2020 ISI Inspection Report:

Pupils' information and communication technology (ICT) skills are excellent. Pupils demonstrate age-appropriate mastery of programming and, in several contexts, are confident and competent to use ICT for other subjects. ICT is used in many subjects but never to the exclusion of traditional writing skills.
