Speech Day is fast approaching and preparations are very much underway, with the marquee going up and the sense of excitement building across the school.
After last week’s heatwave, we are enjoying a slightly cooler spell, although the forecast suggests warmer weather will return as we head towards the weekend. The swimming pool, which was absolutely hammered by use in the heat, has now given up this week – needing to recover. It has been wonderful to see how much it has been enjoyed by pupils across the school.
There has been a real soundtrack of summer this week, with singing drifting across the site and that particular end of term energy beginning to build. Alongside the excitement, there is also a sense of reflection, some pupils are preparing to move on, while others are looking ahead to returning in September and all that lies ahead.
Looking ahead to next week, we have Transition Morning on Monday. Stevensons will also be here on Monday afternoon. Then the Summer concert for ALL pupils Years 3 to 8 in the marquee on Tuesday evening. It promises to be a real highlight of the year.
Finally, Speech Day itself is a very special day. Don’t forget to plan for the picnic – it is a good idea to arrange to picnic together as year groups or with groups of friends – and of course, Diana is, as ever, preparing the now legendary St Peter’s big tea. A reminder that all pupils need to come to school in smart uniform on Thursday. They should have ties, polished school shoes and blazers. If the weather is warm children will be asked to remove their blazers once they are seated.
We look forward to celebrating the end of a very full and successful term together.
