Upper School

Years 6, 7 & 8 inspire & challenge pupils

Empowering Growth

Expert-led classes, multilingual excellence, & global experiences

At St Peter’s Prep School in Devon, children progress to upper school in Year 6 and will navigate independently around the site for all lessons. Classes will be led by expert, specialist teachers for each subject, ensuring a focused and high-quality education for our students.

Pupils will achieve much in their academic journey; Spanish is taught alongside French, which will strengthen cognitive skills and result in higher academic success, encourage a positive outlook towards other cultures and languages, and allow greater opportunities for your child to function within a modern globalised world.

All children take part in a French immersion trip in Year 8 and other activities and expeditions.

Outdoor Learning

To enhance education

St Peter’s makes the most of its 28-acre site with its own woods, heated outdoor swimming pool, numerous rugby, football and cricket pitches, astroturf, tennis courts, adventure playgrounds and lawns.

Children in the Upper School work towards completing their Young Leaders Award. This is a three-year programme that: explores the concept of leadership; investigates the stories and impact of great leaders in society; considers the importance of serving others; and examines how to bring transformation to communities.

This is done through: developing core skills through practical activities and team-building challenges, including effective communication, creative thinking, emotional intelligence, humility and compassion, as well as creating opportunities for social action.

It will help your child to:

  • build their leadership skills & character
  • grow in confidence
  • work as part of a team
  • develop resilience
  • care for others
  • be empowered to serve their communities.

At the end of the Award your child will be awarded a certificate and a badge to celebrate their achievement.

There are three levels of award:

  • Developing Leader
  • Accomplished Leader
  • Exemplary Leader
