St Peter’s Preparatory School, Lympstone, is one of the most successful and forward-looking independent preparatory schools in the South West, awarded Excellent in all categories in our ISI Inspection (March 2020), and we pride ourselves on outstanding learning support.  

We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or Teaching Assistant to provide support to teaching staff in the academic development and pastoral care of individual children or groups of children, including SEND pupils, from Nursery to Year 8.  The role holder may be expected to teach whole classes in accordance with teacher-set plans as required, if suitably qualified. 

We are looking for someone with a positive and proactive approach, with a love and enthusiasm towards the education of children.  The successful applicant will be required to have a suitable Teaching Assistant or HLTA qualification, or substantial relevant experience. 

The role is term-time only, working 27.25 hours per week:

  • Monday, 08:30 to 12:30
  • Tuesday, 08:30 to 17:00 (with a 30-minute unpaid break)
  • Wednesday, 08:30 to 16:30 (with a 30-minute unpaid break)
  • Thursday, 08:15 to 12:30
  • Friday, 08:30 to 12:00  

The annual salary is up to £13,500, depending on qualifications and experience, and will be paid in twelve equal monthly instalments. This part-time opportunity is offered as a fixed-term contract for up to one year, to cover a period of maternity leave.
