Creative arts

At St Peter’s, we believe that an important part of children’s development comes through play and the chance to draw and paint what they see when, perhaps, they cannot express it in words.

Your children will be encouraged to develop artistic ideas through the following mediums:

  • drawing
  • painting
  • printing
  • 3-D work
  • collage

Creativity is an essential life skill and will become more so as our children lead in to their futures. At St Peter’s we have a well equipped designated Art Studio and make the most of our 28 acres with a sketching and watercolour activity outside in the summer. Breadth of experience is the key and children are encouraged to develop artistic ideas. The standard of Art throughout the school is excellent and children are encouraged to explore at home as well as at school.

Design & Technology
Design and Technology is also a key part of the curriculum and children at St Peter’s, some of whom may go on to become engineers or architects, benefit from top of the range software.

All pupils are taught to use the Techsoft2D design computer program, as computer aided design and manufacture (CAD CAM) is such an integral part of this subject.

Your child will have the opportunity to use our Cam Robo Cutting machines and pupils in years 7 and 8 get the chance to work on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) projects through the Faraday Challenge.
