St Peter’s Nursery

The early years’ provision at St Peter’s is outstanding. Young children enjoy focused individual teaching in small class sizes enriched by lessons from fully qualified teachers for Music, Games and French.

Children can join St Peter’s nursery the day after they turn three for full or part-time education. Your child will study a broad curriculum, including teaching from French, music and sports specialists.

Pastoral care is a big priority in creating a hugely supportive and fun atmosphere so children will acquire a love of learning. We have a dedicated Matron on-site and all staff are first aid trained.

Parents can claim 15 or 30 hours of government funding for nursery places, if eligible. For more information on joining our nursery, please contact our Director of Admissions & Marketing, Mrs Rachel Jupp on 01395 280335.

Your Child’s Academic Journey

At St Peter’s, our pupils have the opportunity to benefit from the high-quality, one-to-one approach to teaching. Receiving such focused education early in their developmental years ensures that children will grow up with a life-long enthusiasm for learning.

A bespoke, individual reading programme starts in nursery and all children are encouraged to read every day. When ready, nursery children begin the St Peter’s reading and maths journeys.

Reading can be a daunting first step for children, but there are many ways you can help your child with reading and expand their skill set.

We aim to promote children’s independence by rewarding individual achievement and encouraging our nursery pupils to take responsibility for their learning.

“In EYFS the youngest children show intellectual curiosity which is nurtured consistently and allowed to flourish.”

Outdoor Learning Will Enhance Education

St Peter’s makes the most of its 28 acre site with its own woods, heated outdoor swimming pool, numerous rugby, football and cricket pitches, astroturf, tennis courts, adventure playgrounds and lawns.

We strongly believe in the benefits of outdoor learning to enhance our pupils’ education.

In Forest School – our outdoor classroom – nursery children develop independence, language and communication skills. The environment is stimulating and engaging, with much made of our woodlands, pond area and adventure playgrounds.

Our nursery doors open directly onto large green fields and open spaces, allowing children to run and get lots of exercise. If that isn’t enough, we also have a place for creative and messy play as well as opportunities to role-play in a fun yet safe environment.
