Outdoor learning

St Peter’s makes the most of its 28 acre site with its own woods, heated outdoor swimming pool, numerous rugby, football and cricket pitches, astroturf, tennis courts, adventure playgrounds and lawns. You will find more information on the sports on offer at St Peter’s, as well as the trips and outdoor activities available on their specific pages of this website.

Beach School
Reception children are taken by our drivers and their teachers in our fleet of minibuses to Exmouth beach where they choose their own learning paths through various activities such as: mark making; jumping; taking risks; making dens in the rocks and colour sorting bean bags into hoops.

Forest School
During Wild Woods sessions in the school grounds, your children will use their eyes and ears to spot signs of Spring. Using a tick list, children walk through the woods trying to find what they have on their clipboard.

We make the most of our situation near to the beach and the younger children experience weekly ‘Beach School’ and Forest School sessions. Pond dipping and den building are regular activities for all ages and we enjoy studying local nature with deer, buzzards, woodpeckers, foxes and hedgehogs being regularly sighted at school. Drama in the grounds becomes weekly in the summer months as we make the most of our wonderful location near moorland and sea and children take part in residentials throughout the year, with a leadership and community course with the top years (Upper School).
