Pastoral care

Assistant Head, Pastoral Care, Safeguarding / Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Mrs Claire Wellington-Smith, has overall responsibility for pastoral care. If you have a safeguarding concern, you should email Mrs Wellington-Smith using dsl@stpetersprepschool.co.uk. However, the following staff will also be responsible for pastoral care as follows:

  • Pre-prep: Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 – Mrs Lucy Ball (Head of Pre-prep)
  • Lower School: Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 – Mrs Amy Hughes (Head of Lower School)
  • Upper School: Year 6, Year 7 and Year 8 – Mrs Samantha Parker (Head of Upper School)

We believe that the welfare and happiness of our pupils are central to their ability to develop as confident learners and as future leaders in society. For this reason, there is no higher priority than the provision of excellent pastoral care here at St Peter’s.

The tutor is the first point of contact between parents and school. Tutors monitor the social, physical, intellectual and emotional progress of their children, liaising as necessary with parents, individual staff or the whole staff body to ensure that their needs are being met.

Through meticulous planning and attention to detail, our pupils also benefit from a wide range of extra-curricular activities beyond the school gates.

According to our March 2020 ISI Inspection Report:

Pupils across all ages enjoy positive self-esteem, persevere when challenged and develop a strong awareness of their own strengths and weaknesses.
