The festive season has certainly arrived at St Peter’s. I am regularly treated to the sound of carols being sung and Christmas music being played by the various instruments that are taught in Harefield house. The school looks amazing: a big thank you must go to members of the PTA for decorating our school so beautifully today. It was so lovely to hear the children’s reactions. One excitedly shouted ‘The Christmas Elves have been here!’
The younger children have all been busy practising their nativity plays over the last few weeks. I know that you are all looking forward to the performances next week; they are always such a special part of our Christmas celebrations.
I have enjoyed watching some super sports matches against Blundell’s, Exeter School and Stover this week. I am always so impressed with the sportsmanship of our pupils and their enthusiasm.
I am delighted to share the news that all of our 14 applicants for Wellington School from Year 8 have been awarded places, as well as achieving an incredible nine scholarships including a very rare ‘Head’s Award’. Huge congratulations to our Year 8 pupils. We will publish details when all external applications are completed in January, next term.
This week we successfully launched SOCS, our new co-curricular activity booking system. We listened to parent feedback and said ‘farewell’ to the previous model of first-come, first-served, and are now using a ‘preferences’ approach in order to create a fairer way of allocating children with their activities, as well as taking that pressure off parents at home, to be there at 17:00… on the dot!. Whilst there have been a couple of teething problems, we think that this is going to be a really valuable tool going forward. We are very pleased with how the interface looks for parents and we feel it is a fairer way to allocate children with their activities. I must thank the members of the sports, operations and office team who have worked so hard to set this up over the last few weeks. Please see additional information, and answers to some frequently asked questions, further on in today’s Information Letter. Thank you for your continued support as we work to improve your experience and enhance the opportunities available to our pupils.

I expect that many of you are starting your Christmas preparations over the weekend, and opening the first doors of your advent calendars. Enjoy this special time with your families.
