As November settles in, we’ve been treated to those unmistakably Devon mornings with crisp, frosty starts that have us all reaching for the ice scrapers, followed by the most spectacular sunsets sweeping across the estuary. There is something quite magical about this time of year, both in the landscape around us and in the rhythm of school life.
Across the site, rehearsals for our nativities are well underway. Snatches of songs drift out of classrooms, shepherds’ tea towels are being tried on for size, and there is a wonderful buzz as the children prepare to share their performances with you. Alongside this, there is some incredibly hard work happening in lessons every day; the focus and determination from pupils and staff alike has been a real highlight of the term.
Now that we have a dedicated meeting room on-site, we are delighted to be redesigning the library so that it can once again be a true hub of learning. It is a place to change books, browse, or simply curl up and read. It sits at the heart of the school, just as learning sits at the heart of everything we do.
We were delighted to raise over £1,000 for Children in Need last week and we offer thanks to the whole school community for this fantastic fundraising effort.
Behind the scenes, plans for our end-of-term Christmas festivities are gathering pace. The unmistakable St Peter’s magic is beginning to take shape: an army of parents is already preparing to decorate the main house, and we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Christmas trees that transform the school each year.
As we move through these final busy weeks of term, I hope you are able to enjoy your weekends with the children, making time for rest as well as all the activities I know the children all take part in!
Wishing you all a warm and restorative weekend.
Charlotte
