With the wonderful displays in Harefield House now reaching a total of five Christmas trees, and with the arrival of the enormous tree in front of the School on Friday, the festivities are most definitely upon us. We are so grateful to Otter Nurseries for the loan of some truly outstanding decorations, and to the superb team led by Katie Bain and Ellie Stevens for making everything look so magical. If you’ve signed up to help take it all down on Thursday afternoon, thank you in advance!
This week has been all about Nativities, with star turns from our angels, innkeepers, stars, donkeys, and every other role you might expect. The green screen technology was, I suspect, rather unique to St Peter’s and showed angels ‘really flying’. The much-enjoyed “trailer” showed rehearsal highlights and certainly added a touch of pizzazz!
During the week, I also had a big chat with Year 6 about Years 7 & 8 at St Peter’s: the trips, the small classes and the leadership opportunities, as well as the scholarships available. There was great excitement and plenty for them to think about.
A huge well done to our sports teams who competed against Queen’s College, Taunton in the final rugby and hockey fixtures of the season: what a season it has been! Rugby is in the grass through and through and a highlight was the first contact rugby ever for the girls this term.
It has been so lovely catching up with so many parents recently. I love seeing you all chatting together at performances. It’s such a strong reminder that when a child joins St Peter’s, parents join a warm, friendly community too. I know there are quite a few parent nights out planned over the coming days, and we’re looking forward to staff carols, Secret Santa, and our big end-of-term celebration as well.
And now, we look ahead with real excitement to next week: a visit from a very Special Visitor, Christmas lunch, and of course, the wonderful Carol Service. St Peter’s certainly ends term with a bang!
Wishing you all a wonderfully Christmassy weekend ahead.
Charlotte
