Autumn term 2025, week 7

As we reach the end of the first half of Autumn term and look forward to a two-week break, we hope everyone is able to unwind; whether you’re heading off chasing sunshine, or staying to revel in Autumn’s splendour here in Devon.

I’ve done a little research to see what is on locally over half-term and there’s plenty to enjoy: Killerton (National Trust) offers apple-pressing demos, orchard trails and a seasonal garden walk; Greendale is hosting pumpkin trails, animal encounters and creative workshops; Darts Farm is offering its Pumpkin Festival; World of Country Life, in Exmouth, will be running Halloween fun, pumpkin carving and trails, as well as the usual fun. Meanwhile, Stuart Line Cruises continues its scenic autumn estuary trips along the Exe. We’re also pleased to say Sporty Stars will be running a camp here at school over the half-term, so children wanting a familiar setting and active time with friends have a brilliant option.

When we return, refreshed and ready, we’ll step into a busy second half of term: we’ll observe Remembrance with our school service, and Nativity rehearsals and Christmas preparation will get underway. Don’t forget the clocks go back over the holiday, giving us that extra hour of sleep!

On Friday afternoon this week, we cap off this half-term in style, with our Glow in the Dark Disco: a joyful celebration to bring us together before the break. A huge thank you to Mrs Kingdon and our PTA for all their tireless work in making this event possible.

Wishing everyone a peaceful, fun-filled, and restorative half-term, whether travelling far or staying close to home. We look forward to welcoming you back in November with renewed energy, festive spirit, and plenty to look forward to. Have a lovely half-term!

Mrs Charlotte Johnston
