It is with great sadness that we heard of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday. The Queen was an inspiration and constant presence for us all at St Peter’s and we send all of our thoughts and best wishes to the Royal Family at this sad time. We are also thinking about Lambrook, the prep school – very like St Peter’s – which Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have just joined and we have sent our prayers and thoughts to their Headmaster and the royal children. At St Peter’s we will be following the period of mourning as other schools are doing. We are flying our Union Jack flag at half-mast and observing a minute’s silence before fixtures. In addition, we held a special assembly today.
We await confirmation of the date of the funeral and we will let parents know of any further arrangements in due course.
We have had a very good start to the Autumn term and it has been wonderful to see everyone back. Thank you for all of your comments on the new look newsletter. Sarah Hebbs, in particular, has worked very hard on this and we are delighted with it. Please do make sure to read this weekly communication carefully; it has everything you need for the week ahead.
