Dear Parents,
Thank you for responding so promptly yesterday to the changing weather conditions. It was certainly an eventful morning for staff, parents, and pupils! The snowy conditions made access to and from the school site potentially extremely treacherous, and we greatly appreciate your understanding and quick action. Special thanks go to our bus drivers, who managed a particularly challenging situation with extraordinary care and professionalism, looking after the children so well, particularly with one of the buses stuck in snow for four hours.
On a brighter note, we are thrilled to share the huge success of our Year 7 and Year 8 boys in the rugby tournament at Millfield School on Wednesday. Our Rugby sevens teams showcased incredible talent and teamwork at Millfield Prep School, one of the top rugby schools in the country. The U12s delivered an exceptional performance, winning the majority of their matches against formidable opponents such as Millfield, Perrott Hill, and Sandroyd School. Meanwhile, the U13s put up a valiant effort, securing a hard-fought draw against Millfield Prep School. After leading 3-2, the team conceded a try in the final play, but the match was a testament to their determination and skill. Highlights included Elliot scoring his first try of the season, Oscar setting up multiple tries with his creative play, and James sprinting half the pitch to secure a remarkable brace. Mr Doku and Mr Ball were immensely proud of the students for rising to the occasion and performing so well on such a prestigious stage.
Looking ahead, please take note of the plans for the next few weeks. St Peter’s truly shines at Christmas and I’m very grateful to our PTA, chaired by Antonia Clemow, for their incredible contributions. From decorating the school to organising our ‘special visitor’, the PTA plays a vital role in making the festive season magical for our community.
More broadly, the PTA’s impact extends far beyond the Christmas celebrations. At St Peter’s, the PTA works tirelessly throughout the year to enhance the school experience for all pupils, raising funds for additional resources, organising memorable events like summer fairs, the charity ball and family picnics, as well as fostering the strong sense of community that makes our school so special. Their efforts not only enrich our children’s education but also help bring parents, staff, and pupils together in meaningful ways.
As Antonia’s tenure as PTA Chair comes to an end at the close of this academic year, we are seeking a new Chair to take over this rewarding role. Ideally, we would like the incoming Chair to begin shadowing Antonia from January. If you are interested and have some time to dedicate, this is a wonderful opportunity to get involved in shaping the future of our school community. Please don’t hesitate to contact me directly for a chat about the role.
Thank you once again for your support during this busy season.
Please find a presentation for all the community which outlines our plans for future PTA fundraising and an opportunity for parents, pupils and staff to vote for our fundraising this year. Here is the link to the presentation and a simple voting form.
