Spring Term 2023 Week 1

It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back to St Peter’s this week. The children have come back raring to go and we are very much looking forward to the term ahead.

I would like to thank parents for the wonderful goodies that were delivered to the staff room at the end of term, including for the ‘unsung heroes’. This was so special and very much appreciated. In the main, staff have had a good rest, although a few have been struck down by some horrible bugs, as have a number of children and parents.

The Johnstons have enjoyed two weeks in Cornwall with some fabulous weather and some horrific weather!

We welcomed the staff back with some training on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI); a whole school approach. Please make a note in your diaries for next Tuesday (10 January) when you are invited to the RAP Workshop, with external trainers, for staff and parents. This training will focus on online behaviours and is relevant to all parents.

My start of term assembly yesterday focused on our whole school New Year’s resolution – ‘Clean your shoes’. This is, in part, following the spectacular Carol Service at the end of last term where the children’s shoes were very much ‘on show’ and where the majority of them certainly needed some polishing! We discussed how putting your best foot forward in clean and shiny shoes means that you are prepared and ready for the day ahead.

You can be proud of yourself, your uniform and your school, and you are approaching each day in a smart and organised manner. Please reinforce this at home. There is no reason that even the smallest children can’t clean their shoes. Perhaps create a box of wipes and shoe polish for them to use on a Friday or a Monday morning. We will also have a shoe-cleaning station in the staff room for those who need it!

Aligned with how the majority of schools now operate, we are trialing an online calendar rather than a printed one.

In staffing news, we welcome Mr Doku (Director of Sport), Miss Morris (Music and Drama), Miss Crick (Year 4 and Computing) and Mrs Everett-Klampfer (Assistant Chef). We also welcome new children throughout the school.

Finally, many congratulations to Miss Paver who married Dom the week before Christmas and the sun shone! She will continue to be known as Miss Paver this academic year and will start in September as Mrs Paver-Roberts.
