Spring Term 2023 Week 6

Last week we said goodbye to Mrs Hannah Stoyles who has worked with us for 15 years in Pre-prep and most recently as our wonderful Wild Woods leader.  Hannah has been a dedicated, incredibly hard-working member of staff and we will miss her hugely. We wish her all the best for the future.  We also said goodbye to Ms Frances Wroe and we thank her for her teaching of Upper School English since September.  Mrs Parker returns after half-term following her maternity leave.

Last week was full of shocking and sad news.  We have sent thoughts and prayers from St Peter’s to the community at Epsom College.  The dreadful scenes of destruction following the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have brought time for thought and reflection. Our latest newsletter contains information on our collection for ShelterBox.  Please do give generously.

We have had some joyful moments in the last week of the half-term, particularly the ‘All At Sea’ concert at Blundell’s School on Wednesday.  Thank you to Mr Chris Hoban and Miss Cordelia Morris for organising such a wonderful event for the children to participate in.

We welcomed families to our School in Action day last Wednesday.  We continue to see much interest in the school through the Admissions Department.

It has been Mental Health Awareness Week and, as part of the activities, the children were invited to write messages to friends or staff to say thank you. One I received said ‘Dear Mrs Johnston, Thank you for making all this possible’, another said ‘Thank you for assemblies as I feel so grand and proud when I get my certificates’ and a third thanked me ‘for employing Mr Doku who is excellent’!  The members of staff have absolutely loved the letters, which have brought great joy.  Thank you to Mrs Hughes for such a super idea.

I wish you all a wonderful half-term, whether it be on the slopes or closer to home.  We will return next week to lighter mornings and evenings!
