Spring term 2026, week 9

This week has been all about recruitment for September and our big school production.

As you may already be aware, Mr Godwin-Brown will be retiring at the end of this academic year.  He has been at St Peter’s for ten years and his calm presence and genuine kindness create a culture of respect in his classroom and in the staff room alike. I have very much valued working alongside him during my time at St Peter’s and he will be greatly missed by us all. I know you will join me in sharing best wishes for his retirement and we will say our proper goodbye at Speech Day in the Summer.

This week, we have been recruiting for his full-time replacement. We received 32 applications in total and the field was extremely strong. St Peter’s is a wonderful place to work: our beautiful location, Diana’s delicious lunches, a friendly, supportive and fun staff team, lovely children to teach, and membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme all help us to attract the highest quality candidates.

I am delighted to let you know that Miss Diamond has been appointed to the role. Miss Diamond has worked with us for a number of years and completed her teaching qualification here at St Peter’s. There was great celebration among the staff when the news was announced. She was up against some very strong competition, but her appointment is extremely well-deserved and we are thrilled that she will be continuing her journey with us.

We are also currently recruiting another SENCo to work alongside Mrs Wilson, creating a full-time SENCo team at St Peter’s. Once again, we have received a very strong field of applicants and we will let you know the outcome in due course.

Meanwhile, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, our Upper School on Stage production this week, was a complete triumph. The casting, costumes, acting, lighting and sound all came together to create a truly impressive, high-quality production. It is wonderful for Year 6 to have the opportunity to act alongside older pupils, and for Years 7 and 8 to take on real lead roles.

Parents were hugely impressed, and the staff team pulled together brilliantly behind the scenes: from make-up to costumes and everything needed to get the show on the road.

Have a lovely weekend with your families.

Charlotte, Head
