“Data from externally marked assessments show excellent rates of progress and attainment for pupils at all ages and defined groups, including the gifted and able pupils.” March 2020 ISI Inspection Report

St Peter’s Preparatory School is non-selective yet, in 2023, 29% of our Year 8 pupils were offered places at Exeter School with two achieving an Academic Scholarship.  A further 25% of Year 8 leavers secured places at Wellington School, with 43% of these entering with scholarships.

The rest of the Year 8 leavers of 2023 secured senior school places at Taunton School, Blundell’s School, King’s College, Queen’s and Sherborne School for Girls.  Of these, 50%  were offered scholarships (Academic, Art, Music and Sports).

The majority of our pupils leave us at Year 8; however, we do have other leaving transition points, when pupils join selective schools such as Colyton Grammar School.

Children at St Peter’s study the following subjects: Art & Design, Drama, English, French, Games & physical education, Geography, History, Information & communications technology, Mathematics, Music, Personal, social, health & citizenship education, Religion & philosophy, Science and Spanish.

Children are given the opportunity to learn in a variety of ways: through exploration and research; to break down subject boundaries and to acquire a mix of knowledge and skills.
