Residentials have continued this week with the Year 7s off on a Dartmoor expedition, involving hiking, abseiling and rock scrambling, as well as wild camping and cooking. The level of achievement that they all feel is impressive and the children are rightly super proud of what they have done. It was a hot few days, and huge thanks to the staff for taking them: Mr Payne, Mrs Robertson, Mrs Ball and Mrs Beddowes.
Lower School Sports Day saw a number of school records broken and massive congratulations to the following children: Ava J (Year 3 Javelin), Charlotte G (Year 3 200m), Henry M (Year 3 Javelin), Joseph H (Year 3 200m) Lucy B (Year 4 200m), Otis H (Year 4 200m), Raz K (Year 4 Long Jump), Archie B (Year 4 100m print), Amelie W (Year 5 200m), Rudy H (Year 5 200m)
It was a tremendous event with the children impressing us with their determination and effort. Thank you to the sports team and the operations team (including Diana Richards’ catering team, who dished out home-made cheese scones, which were very much enjoyed by parents with their coffee!)
I have been busy this week interviewing Year 7 pupils for positions of responsibility when they move into Year 8 next year. Dr Evans and I have been blown away by the children’s love of their school and we are so impressed with how articulate, confident and cheerful they all are. It is going to be a very difficult decision!
It has been great to see so many parents at the ‘preparing for the next stage’ meetings over the last few weeks as well as at Sports Day. Thank you for your support.
Good luck to those pupils representing the school at the National Finals in Birmingham next week, we will let you know the results when they come in.
Enjoy the weekend with your families.
Charlotte Johnston, Head.
