This week, we have been celebrating World Mental Health Day with colour, creativity and connection. Everyone has been wearing sashes, some beautifully decorated with the things that make us happy. Izzy drew pictures of all her friends and attached them to her sash, while another child drew a very tempting slice of cake! It’s been a joyful reminder that friendship and connection are at the heart of looking after our mental health. Every Friday, staff also take a moment to recognise one another through Staff Shout Outs – small cards of thanks and encouragement. I have the Friday joy of delivering a chocolate bar and messages to the lucky recipients, and they’ve been wonderful to read, filling our new staff room with warmth and laughter. To bring out the best in our children, we know we must value and look after the adults who support them every day.
We’ve also enjoyed some excellent rugby and hockey this week and a very generous Harvest Festival, with donations going to the Open Door charity in Exmouth, one of our chosen school charities this year. St Peter’s is looking glorious in its autumn colours, with golden leaves, crisp mornings and that unmistakable October light. So, this weekend, make yourself a promise: reconnect with someone – an old friend, a family member, or simply share a chat or a cup of tea – and take a moment to slow down and appreciate the beauty all around you.
Have a lovely weekend!
