Maintenance and General Site Assistant (2 positions available)

Vacancy Overview

St Peter’s Preparatory School is seeking two Maintenance and General Site Assistants to support the upkeep, safety, and smooth running of our School site and grounds.

Working as part of the site team, you will carry out a wide range of general maintenance tasks including repairs, painting, carpentry, basic grounds and outdoor maintenance, and equipment movement. You will also support grounds maintenance and seasonal gardening tasks, assist with school events, school bus runs when required, parking duties, and help ensure all buildings, outdoor spaces, and facilities are clean, safe, and well maintained.

These are permanent, full-time positions, for which the salary is £24,784.50 per annum (including paid holiday entitlement). The successful candidate will work 37.5 hours per week with the following working patterns:

  • Position 1 – Monday to Friday, 06:30-15:00 with a 60-minute unpaid break each day.
  • Position 2 – Monday to Friday, 10:30–19:00 with a 60-minute unpaid break each day.

The role also benefits from six weeks’ paid holiday plus a two-week Christmas closure. 

The role requires proven general maintenance experience, a good understanding of health and safety, fire safety and COSHH regulations, and strong organisational skills. You will need to be a team player with a flexible, positive approach and the ability to manage a varied workload to completion. A full, clean UK driving licence is required, as is the ability to undertake physical work and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
