Friday 4 March 2022
I do hope that you enjoyed half-term with your families. We have returned to school with a ‘bang!’ this week with Pancake Races, World Book Day, the delayed Science Faculty Day and lots and lots of rain! It was so fun to dress up and see the children celebrating books and reading on Thursday. My thanks to Miss Hodder-Williams for organising World Book Day. Children (age 3 to 13) and staff (wouldn’t dream of publishing ages!) loved it all. We have missed events like this so much.
The dreadful news of the War unfolding in Ukraine has caused concern and worry amongst the whole community. We have gathered resources together to work with the children using appropriate languages and images and to help us answer questions without frightening them. We are using a ‘child-led’ approach, form by form. First News has created a free edition of their newspaper particularly for parents. The link is here; it is well worth downloading so that you can read with the children at home. I know that children and families will want to raise money or collect resources which can be sent to help. When we know more about central collections in East Devon we will let everyone know. We do have some families who have relatives in Russia or Ukraine and we will be contacting them and supporting them individually as much as we can. Please do contact us if you would like to discuss further.
Have a super weekend!
