This has been a week of great sporting events; firstly, on Tuesday, ‘The Great House Pancake Race’! The whole school, including every child from Nursery to Year 8, and all the staff, gathered excitedly on the Astro where Mr Parker and Mr Doku had everything arranged perfectly and the children were led through a demonstration by our incredible Year 8s. Thankfully, all the races went brilliantly and there was much shrieking and cheering in support. The staff race also went well with Achilles’ tendons remaining intact for all, thank goodness!
Secondly, on Wednesday afternoon, we hosted a wonderful Football Festival for U10 and U11 boys involving Woodbury, Exeter Road, Marpool, Taunton and Stover schools. There was a great turnout and the children played their socks off. Festivals really do provide so much more time on the pitch for the children; a really worthwhile experience. Thank you again to Mr Doku and the Games Department for their excellent organisation.
A huge thank you to Dr Evans, Mr Payne and Mrs Crick for all of their work to make our Collapsed Curriculum days happen this week – from stomp rockets to carboard creations and coding puzzles – it has been a hive of activity topped off by our ‘big bang assembly’, What a success for all!
Next weekend, we look forward to our ‘Upper School on Stage’ Drama production of Captain Stirrick at the Blundell’s School Theatre on Saturday 4 March and Sunday 5 March. It promises to be very special so please do book tickets.
Please also note the family weekend event at the East Devon Hunt Point to Point at Ottery St Mary on Sunday 12 March which should be great fun. Do join us at 11:30 outside the bar tent. Families can either purchase refreshments or bring picnics. Please note that it is cash only for the adult entrance fee of £15 which you pay on the gate when you arrive. This follows previous successful family weekend events (dog walk, beach clean and picnic).
