Get Ready for the Big Garden Birdwatch!
This weekend, we’re excited to join families across the country in the Big Garden Birdwatch; a wonderful opportunity to enjoy nature, contribute to important conservation work, and have some fun spotting our feathered friends.
Running from 26 to 28 January, the Big Garden Birdwatch is a fantastic initiative by the RSPB, encouraging people of all ages to spend just one hour counting the birds they see in their gardens, local parks, or any green space. Your sightings help the RSPB understand how bird populations are faring across the UK.
Taking part is easy! Simply:
Find a comfortable spot where you can watch the birds.
Record how many birds you see of each species during a single hour.
Submit your results online at the RSPB website.
Here at school, we’ve been preparing for the Birdwatch by learning about common garden birds in our lessons.
Why not make it a family activity this weekend? It’s a chance to relax, connect with nature, and spark curiosity about the world around us. Don’t forget to share your results with us. We’d love to hear about the birds you spot!
Please go onto the RSPB website to find out more.
I thoroughly enjoyed parading the Haggis today, to the music of bag pipes, for Burns Night this weekend. Emily and Tom really liked stabbing the Haggis – thank you to Diana for a fun end to the week. I was impressed with how many children tried the Haggis! Some liked it more than others!
We had some incredible results from our first Upper School Netball matches this week which I very much enjoyed watching against Taunton School. We are pleased with the resounding success in all matches.
I’m pleased to let you know that the results are in for the ‘Vote for the PTA Funding’, where the winner was the outdoor gym on the front lawn. We will be looking to install this at some point next year.
The pupils have also voted on the whole school New Year’s resolution with the winner being ‘Eat healthy food and drink plenty of water’, something we can all try to achieve this coming year.
Results are coming in from senior school entrances – we will share them with you next week.
Have a lovely weekend and happy birdwatching!
