Summer term 2025, week 8

Dear Parents,

Sunshine and Connections

There has been plenty of sunshine this week, both in the skies and in the many warm connections I’ve enjoyed with colleagues and pupils alike.  Last Friday, I travelled to Bath for the South West District Summer Term meeting, where I had the pleasure of catching up with fellow IAPS Heads from across the region. We covered a range of important topics, from teaching and learning to pupil wellbeing, inspection (of course!) and VAT. One of the most powerful moments came from a young woman recently diagnosed with ADHD and Autism, who spoke movingly about her experience and what schools can do to help children like her flourish. Her message was a timely reminder of the need for empathy, curiosity, and flexibility in our approach to all children.

As I write this, back at school on Wednesday afternoon, I’ve had the joy of watching the U10s play cricket against Blundell’s in a classic summer scene of white kit, green grass, and plenty of good-natured enthusiasm. I’ve also been singing with the Pre-prep pupils as they prepare for Speech Day. One of the songs includes the line ‘When two friends meet, there is sunshine…’, and that feels just right for this week. The sunshine is most certainly here at St Peter’s; in our connections, in our community, and in this glorious summer weather.  Charlotte Johnston, Head
