Thank you to everyone who was involved in making the St Peter’s Summer Fête such a success, and special congratulations and heartfelt thanks to Mrs Kingdon for expertly organising not one plan, but also a seamless wet-weather contingency plan!
The addition of the truck stage (thank you to Mr Kingdon) was a real triumph and is certainly something we should look to keep for future years. It was wonderful to see the Year 8 band, Mea Culpa, and our talented Year 7 dancers performing so confidently, and we hope this is just the beginning of more opportunities to showcase pupil talent in this way.
Another highlight was the Dog Show! What a fun event and huge thanks to Mrs Maroo and Lizzy Farwell for their wonderful organisation. Thank you to all staff and parents manning stalls, particularly Mr Cunliffe who had to go into the bouncy tunnel on a rescue mission at one point! There were over 100 burgers and 150 hot dogs consumed, evidencing that the BBQ was very well attended! Well done and congratulations to all.
Final thanks to Miss Pirelli who put a considerable amount of time getting the payment system set up.
The money raised through the Summer Fête, together with PTA events throughout the year, is shared between the PTA and our two chosen school charities. This year, we are delighted to be supporting Children’s Hospice South West and Open Door Exmouth. Thank you to everyone who has helped us support such worthwhile causes.
This year, the funds raised for the PTA have already made a significant difference to the resources available for our children across the school. Recent purchases have included a class set of ukuleles with storage, five digital microscopes for use in Science, new equipment for the Reception outdoor area, picnic benches and mini teepees for our play spaces, a class set of Lego technology equipment to support learning and enrichment activities, and new House flags.
There is more to come, and planned projects include a redesign of the Wild Woods area and pond, as well as headsets and microphones to enhance Performing Arts productions and performances.
A huge thank you to our PTA Committee, class representatives and everyone who has supported and organised events throughout the year. Your time, energy and enthusiasm all help provide so many additional opportunities for our children.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of watching our U11s win the County Cup at Exeter School in a nail-biting last match against Mount Kelly. This means that they are through to the Regional Competition. Such great teamwork: quick hands, fantastic bowling and some excellent wickets as well as really good batting.
Finally, a date for the long-term diary: the St
Peter’s PTA Charity Summer Ball will take place on Saturday, 3 July 2027. It is always a fantastic evening and a wonderful way to support the school community and our charitable endeavours, so please hold the date!
A final thanks to Nora for making me in lego and letting me keep her for my desk!
