One of our Year 7 pupils, aged 12, has received a ‘Highly Commended’ award in her age group for the IAPS iArt competition. The theme for this year’s competition was ‘My Role Model’, which encouraged portraits of celebrity and familial role models alike.
We had a number of entrants into this year’s IAPS iArt competition, which fielded submissions from across the globe. Indeed, over 70 schools submitted 161 works for consideration by the judging panel. In light of this hotly contested competition, we are delighted that one of our pupils has been recognised by IAPS for her work.
The awarded portrait is a careful black and white sketch of Nina Simone, titled ‘Bravery’. The successful pupil will depart to London to receive her certificate and prize at the ceremony later this month.
Our other entries included a mixed-media homage to Sky Brown, a painting of Florence Nightingale and a tribute to a pupil’s father. Well done to everyone for all of their efforts, and we look forward to seeing their artistic abilities developing in the years to come.
