Teaching and Learning: What Makes St Peter’s Special

This week, we hosted an ITN Productions film crew as part of IAPS’ ‘Prepping for the Future’ campaign, which highlights the many benefits of a prep school education.  We are thrilled to be involved, being provided with a unique opportunity to really show what makes St Peter’s Preparatory School stand out.

Filming had to be postponed because of some truly grim weather.  However, the sun shone down on us while the film crew were with us on Wednesday, allowing St Peter’s to sparkle.  We’d like to thank parents for their flexibility, with Reception parents dropping children off early at Exmouth seafront to capture Mrs Brenton and Miss Atkins deliver a Beach School session.  Pupils across the school arrived immaculately dressed and presented themselves so very well on camera; they embodied all the St Peter’s Qualities!

Speaking of our pupils: the film crew kept commenting how mature, patient and engaging they all were.  From Nursery children enjoying Forest School to Years 5 & 6 practising rugby drills, every child behaved impeccably and was a credit to their parents and the school.  A special mention must go to the Year 4s who were asked to look at cheek cells through microscopes for 20 minutes straight, with the stamina of oxes.

Our staff was just brilliant.  They delivered lessons with aplomb in front of the camera, being flexible with their timetables to ensure the film crew could capture as much as possible.  Huge thanks must go to all the teaching, maintenance and operations staff for ensuring that the school looked its very best.

The day demonstrated why St Peter’s Preparatory School is so special: we are a real, hardworking team, who want to make sure pupils have the best experience possible.  Mrs Johnston and I were interviewed at the end of the day, answering questions on what makes the school stand out. From our own St Peter’s School Baccalaureate® and Learning Success team, to our music, sports and academic departments: St Peter’s own brand of learning and teaching is something we’re proud to shout about.

We look forward to receiving the rushes of the footage over the coming weeks and are now working on post-production of the film.  We look forward to sharing this with you all in due course. Watch this space!
