Autumn term 2026, week 6

Autumn sunshine, sporting success and half-term adventures

We have enjoyed some glorious autumnal weather this week, and with the ground becoming softer, contact rugby is gradually being reintroduced. As I write on Wednesday, we have two teams representing St Peter’s at the South West IAPS tournaments: our U13 girls in hockey and our U11 boys in rugby. We wish both teams the very best of luck!

IAPS (the Independent Association of Prep Schools) brings together more than 650 prep and junior schools nationally and internationally, championing high standards and excellence in education. I have been fortunate to serve on the IAPS Board as a Director for a number of years, and I am very proud of St Peter’s representation within this wider community.

Congratulations to our County players! A large number of our boys and girls have been selected for County Cricket and Hockey teams. This is a wonderful achievement, and we are delighted to see their hard work and talent recognised.

There has been plenty happening in school, too. We have enjoyed a lovely Year 1 assembly, while Year 2 travelled to Powderham Castle as part of their Victorian project. The flat caps, braces and bonnets were simply too lovely!

As we head into the half-term break, I hope you enjoy some precious time together as a family. There is always plenty happening locally, whether you fancy a coastal walk, a family outing or an autumn adventure.

Huge thanks to Beani Kingdon and all involved with the Glow in the Dark Disco this afternoon! A real favourite for the children.

Wishing you all a happy, restful and enjoyable half-term. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed for the second half of the Autumn Term!
