Are you a proactive and experienced maintenance professional with a strong commitment to high standards and a safe working environment? Join our team as Head of Maintenance and play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our school.

St Peter’s Preparatory School, Lympstone is seeking a skilled and reliable individual to lead and manage all maintenance operations across the site. Working closely with the Director of Operations, the successful candidate will oversee repairs, planned maintenance, and development projects, coordinating Operations staff and external contractors to ensure the school remains safe, compliant, and well maintained.

This is a permanent, full-time position, for which the salary is £30,527 per annum (including paid holiday entitlement). The successful candidate will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:30 with a 60-minute unpaid break each day. The role also benefits from 6 weeks’ paid holiday plus a two-week Christmas closure.

Comprehensive maintenance experience (including carpentry, plumbing, painting and general repairs) is essential, along with strong organisational skills and experience of managing workloads and budgets. A sound understanding of health and safety, compliance, and statutory regulations is required. The role also demands excellent communication skills, a positive and flexible approach, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a school environment. A full, clean UK driving licence is required, as is the ability to undertake physical work and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain high standards of professionalism, safety, and conduct at all times, and to share the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
