A freezing week on site with some real snow, which was greeted with great excitement! There were a couple of very icy mornings and evenings. In the future, please do not rush to get the children to school on time if it is at all dangerous on the roads; we very much understand.
The evenings are finally getting a little lighter with 17:00 definitely now not dark and there are tiny spring lambs on the field next to the Abram field.
Some of our Year 8s have been involved in scholarships and entrance exams for different schools recently and many go to Exeter School for their 13+ exams. I have been busy with practice interviews for them; teaching them the importance of a firm handshake and eye contact, as well as handling interview questions. Results are beginning to come in this week. We wish all of them taking exams this weekend the best of luck. Any parent who wishes to speak to me about future schools, please do make an appointment via the usual email address.
This week, I visited Sherborne School and Sherborne Girls’ School to attend a shared concert. The children performed in an extremely impressive new Performing Arts Hall, with a duet on two Steinway pianos being a real highlight. We also welcomed the Head of Queen’s College, Taunton to speak to our staff and parents. Next week, I will be welcoming the new Head of King’s College, Taunton to St Peter’s. There will be a further ‘Meet the Head’ session next term.
Enjoy the weekend with your families.
