Exeter Chiefs’ Duo To Play In St Peter’s School v Lympstone Village Cricket Match

St Peter’s Preparatory School is hosting the annual cricket match of staff against the Lympstone village cricket team at 18:00 on 15 June 2017 on the Pearson Field. Lympstone village cricket team does not have its own cricket field in the village so this is an opportunity to see them on home soil.

Head of St Peter’s, Mrs Charlotte Johnston, comments: “We are delighted to welcome Tom Johnston and Matt Jess of the Exeter Chiefs, who will be taking part in the game of cricket on Thursday evening, as well as the Lympstone village cricket team and spectators. I am particularly looking forward to hearing the Lympstone Training Band play before the match at St Peter’s again and to hopefully enjoying beautiful sunny views across the estuary with parents and local residents, as we watch the 20 overs.”

This cricket match is a festive occasion, including a bar, barbeque, raffle and sweepstake and all proceeds go towards maintaining the fabric of the church, which is Lympstone’s oldest building – the tower having been built more than 600 years ago.

Tom Johnson, who lives in Lympstone, has just retired as a back row player from Exeter’s Premiership Champion rugby team. Winger Matt Jess has undergone surgery on a toe injury this season which has prevented him playing rugby but he will be able to take part in cricket!

Do come along and enjoy the match from 17:15 and feel free to bring picnic blankets and camping chairs with you. More information on the cricket match can be found here: http://www.lympstone.org/event/village-cricket-match/
