What a triumph Open Day was at St Peter’s in the sunshine.
We welcomed lots of prospective families as well as lots of current ones. The house point stickers were certainly very motivating and it was a job for some parents to keep up with their children tearing around the school on the hunt for more!
Thank you to those families that joined us. They enjoyed seeing parts of the school that they hadn’t seen before as well as meeting staff from all areas of the school. The children loved the activities on offer from slime making to Hockey skills.
This week I welcomed Mrs Vicki Drinkwater from the Royal Marines’ Charity to St Peter’s. The Royal Marines’ charity is our whole school charity this year and we were delighted to hear of all of the events that St Peter’s can get involved with over the year. I can certainly see a team of staff and parents enjoying the Commando Challenge as well as some parents and staff taking part in the London Marathon or various half marathons on behalf of St Peter’s and the Royal Marine’s Charity (they will even provide us with T-shirts)! Mrs Glanvill is writing with further dates of interest and will be working with the Charity in her role as lead on the Whole School council.
Next week I will be away in Edinburgh for the joint IAPS and HMC conference. This is a huge event which I have been involved in organising. I am looking forward to it and face the opening speech with quaking knees! There will be many current topics of discussion facing education today and I will feedback on my return. In my absence my very capable Deputy Head Team of Mrs Hughes, Mrs Wellington-Smith (Mon / Tues / Weds a.m.) and Mrs Ball (Weds p.m. / Thurs / Fri) will be holding the fort.
Enjoy the weekend
Best wishes
Charlotte Johnston, Head
