Following revision week? EXAM week of course!
Did we see tantrums? Did we see terror in the children’s eyes? No
We saw prepared and committed learners ready to show off their talents and skills during their end of term exam week.
To our dear Year 6, 7, 8 pupils – even before we know the outcomes and exam results – you smashed it – right attitude and right tone about the school.
You should be very proud of yourself and maybe you even secretly enjoyed parts of the week of academic focus and pressure. I certainly saw a lot of support for each other and encouragement for peers.
Positive is how I would describe Week 7 ‘Exam week’.
Pupils feedback to staff ranged from “Well that was all easier than I thought it would be” through to “Oh no, I have messed up on question 6 in my Religion and Philosophy exam, but other than that I have smashed it”.
With pupils exerting many a squeal of delight when their answer checked out with a friends answer, or even a groan of disappointment when forgotten information had been discovered. It has been a pleasure to watch the pupils examine each other after the exams – they all felt they had done well in many things and some think they have blundered a few other questions. But still no meltdowns. Upper school pupils have shown …
I fancy Exam week has broadened shoulders around the school site.
Positive pressure in action. Taking pride in their work and much camaraderie amongst the troops. They see how much luck the staff team genuinely wish them and they do indeed – ‘Believe it. Achieve it’.
Next week is exam reflection and review time, so the pupils will have to wait a little bit longer to find out how they have fared. Pupils will be encouraged to share scores with parents verbally. They will then review their highlighted data marks on their bacc grids. Then parents evenings will be held whereby results and next steps can be discussed through with the Upper School staff team.
At the end of the term we will be sending home an exam report result sheets for Yr 6, 7 and 8 parents’ perusal (alongside the pupils final tutor report and St Peter’s School Baccalaureater® outcomes for all year groups).
Here is how your child’s exam results will be presented to you:
It is certainly a busy, busy time of year!
