There are twenty-six Year 8 students at St Peter’s Preparatory School in Lympstone, Devon. These private school pupils have been offered twenty-three scholarships between them to senior schools including Blundell’s, Exeter School, Millfield, Stover School, Taunton School and Wellington School.
St Peter’s is non-selective yet, earlier this year, thirteen of our Year 8 pupils sat the Exeter School entrance exam and all of them were offered places. Head, Mrs Charlotte Johnston, comments: “Even more cause for celebration is that four of our pupils achieved academic awards to Exeter School. Four of our children have also succeeded in passing the entrance examination to Colyton Grammar School and one to Torquay Boys’ Grammar School. It is, perhaps, not surprising that our current Year 8s have had such scholarship success given that they are currently preparing to take their GCSE in critical thinking this summer, which is three years early.”
In the summer of 2016, ten of our Year 8 pupils sat a GCSE in critical thinking and all ten succeeded in achieving this GCSE (100% pass rate) with results as follows:
● 4 children passed (C)
● 5 children got a merit (B)
● 1 child was awarded a distinction (A)
According to our last ISI Integrated Inspection report:
“The high quality of pupils’ achievement results from the excellence of teaching and the curriculum.”
